Full of amazement of my Dutch life. |
At the beginning of the year, winter here in the Netherlands. It's always dark, it feels like the sun will never rise. Many people feel depressed during the winter. The days are short, the nights are long. By the end of March, the sun is shining but the sun's rays still don't burn our skin during springtime. The flowers are slowly blooming, the leaves are sprouting again on the trees. On the roads, you can see tulips and daffodils that are just scattered, you can see them everywhere. There are places that turn pink because of the cherry trees, and the sweet magnolia trees. When June comes, the summer season starts. We seem to fall in love with life and the weather again. We will go out in summer clothes, and hang out in cafes to have a coffee or eat an ice cream cone while watching people passing by. Summer is a vacation time, here or we go outside the Netherlands. In September, the leaves will gradually fall and change colors. The green ones, which were once green, will turn red, pinkish, yellow, or orange. I used to only cross-stitching the autumn in an Aida cloth but now it is my favorite season. When I see the four seasons, I am really impressed by the different kinds of beauty each one of them have. During winter, I am mesmerized by snowflakes whose forms are unique and artistic, in my heart and mind, I feel grateful to their very wise and powerful designer. The mist in winter, I feel like I am a character in a classic movie, somber, reading with a candle light. During summertime, everything is colorful, children are smells of the sun, women are in bare arms, sunkissed colors. From childhood until today, summer days are like time to collect memories, to look back like somewhere in time. When springtime arrives, hope floats because after a long winter, we wake up to the chirping and singing of birds in the trees. It feels good to feel warm again, to plant again. I can say that beauty of four seasons add more wonders to my Dutch wonderful life.
