I Love Cooking!

Cooking is love made visible. I have read this quote from a food magazine. Now that I have my own family and cooking for them became one of my passions, I feel that this quote is true. I have many nice stories about my cooking. First, I would like to tell you that I am not a good cook before. When I arrived in The Netherlands in my new role in life as a housewife, I do not cook because I do not know how to cook.
They say that the easiest way to a man's heart is through his stomach. In our case, that is not true. My husband accepted the fact that I do not cook. He just told me that he will be the one to cook because he loves cooking.

Members of my family in the Philippines are good cooks. My sister is a very good cook. Aside from graduating AB English course, she also graduated in a culinary course. She cooked the best chicken curry I have tasted. One time it amazed me when I saw her making pancakes for her kids and she used banana leaf as a brush to wipe oil in the pan. She has some kind of arts in cooking. My mother is also a very good cook. She is famous in her specialty, cooking with gata or coconut milk. Her laing is I considered world famous. Our Filipino friends around the world asking her to cook laing for them whenever they are in the Philippines for a vacation. I miss her laing and her ginataang langka with sardines.

I do not have their talent, not until today. I feel a bit proud now that I can also cook and my husband and son love my cooking. Before, it is my husband who always cooks our dinner. But now I have the guts to offer him that I like to cook. Cooking with gusto.

I always alone in the house before, I have many idle time if I will not think something to make my day productive. I have many hobbies, from reading to writing. From cross-stiching to latch-hooking.
I want to do something new. That was the time that I tried to cook. I started on simple recipes like ginisang monggo and sinigang because these two are really my big favorite. Sometimes I invite some Filipina friends and sometimes my friends in our congregation who lives nearby and sharing them my cooking. I began to noticed that I can really cook and it is very delightful. My husband also taught me how to cook some Dutch foods like boerenkol and andijvie. My husband is happy that I also like Dutch foods.
I love budget but healthy cooking.

I can cook some of the best and all time favorite recipes now. I have already cooked Chicken Pasta Alfredo, Chicken Parmesan, and Beefy Fettucine with white wine and heavy cream. My cassava cake is now perfect and my  afritada is now almost perfect... Just ask my husband about it! Hahahaha! My Oriental Baked Chicken is our latest favorite, my own recipe.
My beefy fettucine.

I am glad I discovered that cooking is not difficult. When I like to cook, I just browse recipes on the internet. As much as possible, I like my cooking just within the budget. Healthy meal in a good budget. Before I end up, there is warmth in my heart right now. I will write next week what is this all about.
So, do you also love to cook?
