Lunch Italiano At Tartufo And The Beauty Of Delft

One of the things that I am really grateful to my in-laws is their generosity. They always have something for me and my family. Earlier this year, they gave us a gift certificate for lunch for two. There are many restaurants all over the Netherlands listed in the GC, all we have to do is to choose and call for reservation. After months of ignoring the GC I told my husband that I like to go and spend it. We choose Tartufo, an Italian Restaurant. Tartufo is in the old but very beautiful town of Delft. Only about thirty minutes drive going there from our home in Vlaardingen. It was not a sunny Saturday afternoon but the weather is fair enough for us to stroll. My husband buckled up our baby in the back seat and I was in high spirit to take selfie photo during our short trip. We parked our car, then we walked to find Tartufo. Since it was Saturday, the centrum of Delft is crowded of antique sellers and antique buyers. We found Tartufo, it is near at one of the oldest churches in Delft. When we enter, the staff and crew are very friendly and polite. The aroma is very homey, the ambiance is very Italian, that you want to peek right away what they offer inside. We gave to the waiter our GC and he asked us what we would like to drink, making it clear that they do not serve alcohol. My husband have orange juice and I ordered jasmine tea that I regretted later because drinking jasmine tea is for me like drinking a perfume!
The waiter took our order and the chef came to us and all smiles greeted us. Burt our baby getting impatient when he saw the plates set on our table. The service in Tartufo is fast and courteous. Not very long the waiter served our food and happily telling us what are those foods in our plate. I think there are five kinds of cheese in our plate. There is also eggplant, onions, tomatoes, rocola, bacon, ham, salami, and few with names that I do not know. They also served pasta. There are three kinds of pasta in our plate that I have no time to memorize because Burt is enjoying the food. The chef came out again and very happy to see that our boy love their food. Aside being Italian, Tartufo have also organic foods and foods for vegetarian. We have a great time in Tartufo. We left full and happy.
After Tartufo, we strolled around the town. I was fascinated by the numerous canals, the picturesque houses, and the very Dutch antique traders. I have a selfie photo with the Delft Town Hall or Stadhuis in the background that according to some historian is Renaissance style.
Beside the canals at the center of Delft are the antique traders. You will be getting drown because they are so many. From farming materials to fishing materials. From kitchen wares to gardening. Clothing, shoes, bags, and I love those old but very fashionable earings! Also in Delft is the Porceleyne Fles, the porcelain factory in which the Delft ware has been famed since the 17th century. This is the famous Delft Blue. More or less of the top tourist attractions in Delft are the Beginjhof, Prinsenhof, the Tomb of William 1, The Old Church of Delft, and The New Church of Delft. The New Church Of Delft is a Gothic church and I have read it was built between 1396 and 1496. Our visit in Delft gave me the idea that Delft is indeed one of the most beautiful towns in the Netherlands. Delft is very rich in arts and history. The next time you come in The Netherlands, why not come and taste anything Italian in Tartufo, at the same time visit the century-old beauty of Delft?
