Flevoland Vacation, here to Emmeloord (Pieper Festival)

The second day of our vacation was spent by visiting the nearby town, the Emmeloord. Today is the Pieper Festival. The town is full of people, locals, vacationers, and few tourists. The Pieper Festival served many quality french fries for everyone for free. It was a delicious, and I jokingly told my husband that its taste is more delicious because it is free. There were many attractions in the festival, mostly are for children. I made some photos even it was rainy. But most of all, I love to share again the photos around here in our cabin.

The Open Monumenten Dag Photo Competition

"I have this feeling that I need to gather more confidence to afloat  with this beautiful photography world."
Today was a beautiful day. It was rainy, but the rain seems cooperates because it stopped for a while, and it gave way to the awarding of the Open Monumenten Dag Photo Competition where my photo landed among the top six.
my photography landed at the top 6
It was not bad, I am still on learning and obtaining more experience in photography. There were many great photos. The covered with a roof Touwbaan serves as the photo gallery, at the same time a small market with some stalls and vendors were also present and presented their products.

With one of the organizers, Mr. J. Ditiecher
I took some photos, few with myself using my iPhone. I also made some photos using my Canon digita. It is odd, because I have this shy feeling to use my digital camera when I am with other photographers.

It is like, I still cannot believe it that I can make photos, really beautiful photos, and winning photos. I think, I need to gather more confidence to afloat with this beautiful photography world!

The Food Truck Festival In Vlaardingen, the Netherlands

The center stage for performer (me and my son)
The atmosphere was cozy, chilly, and I was torn between summer and fall. The place was at the beautiful and ever scenic Oranje Park, in Vlaardingen.

The good looking festival from afar
From our congregational meeting, Sunday morning, me and my son have a short walk going there to meet my husband, the father of my child. To consume, to enjoy. The event is something unique, family friendly, a Food Truck Festival.

The beautiful Thai food truck (that is my husband)

We chooseThai.

A cozy lunch with my family

My delicious Thai green curry

The festival was held from 1 until 3 of September. The trucks that I have noted are: Piepers and Rund, Bommelbeef, Lekker Hotel Mama, Early Coffee, Crepes BuBu, Logical Food, Butterflies, Foodtruck King, Spoons & Buns and Pasta Penne. We choose to eat something Asian, we took our table and sit in front of the Thai truck. My husband has the delicious red curry, and I have a green curry that I also shared with my son. We got a drink from the Toost truck, I brought home the glass as a souvenir for 1 euro.

I am torn between summer and fall.

There was also a truck that appears like a living room, this truck was the one that provides music for the audience. The festival was indeed worth seeing. I am looking forward to the next year's summer, to get fascinated again with these unique and artful food trucks.

My Vacation At The Summer Capital Of The Philippines

I was fourteen years old when I first went to this place. That instant, I fell in love with this place. This place is the summer capital of the Philippines, the home of Philippines strawberries, and the famous Panagbenga Festival. This is Baguio City and also  called "Pines City."

Me in traditional Igorot costume

Baguio is on the Philippines' Luzon Island, a mountain town of resorts and prestigious universities. Many people coming here during summer because of the unusually cool weather. This time, I want to relate my story about my holiday in Baguio with my husband.

my Dutch husband feeling so cold in Baguio :)

I also went to Baguio many years ago with my sister, cousin, and friends. We stayed at a friend's house for free. There was also a time that I went there alone, trying to find myself, attempting to find any true love, but what I found was, flowers, trees, and fog.
Me and my husband have a holiday in Baguio. We stayed at Tiptop Baguio Vacation Homes. The owners became our good friends up to this day.

Baguio's points of interest are: The Burnham Park, The Mines View Park, Camp John Hay, and the Botanical Garden. The Burnham park has gardens and a lake where visitors can rent a boat and paddle around. I think among these places, I love Camp John Hay the most. The Burnham Park is now very crowded. In Camp John Hay, I relished the wide open space, the park, the garden, and the pine trees.

Panagbenga
It was a month of February when we have our holiday there. Just on time for the Panagbenga Festival. Panagbenga is a month long annual festival in Baguio. From what I read on the news at InterAksyon.com, Panagbenga draws more than one million people. When we were there, I have seen that it is true. I have never seen that crowd coming to the top of the mountain to attend a festival. The visitors coming from all over the Philippines.
It was like a chaos for us. All restaurants are full, all public transports are occupied, I got an aching feet because we walked long back to the hotel.

When you are in Baguio, the Session Road is the main thoroughfare. The street where you can have an access to shops, restaurants, and entertainments. I have seen how time changed Baguio. One of the changes is, Baguio is also now famous because of its extensive range of ukay-ukay. Ukay-ukay is a Filipino term for second hand items. When we went there, there is a big building, selling all second hand items. Many people even from far places like Manila, go in Baguio for branded or not branded ukay-ukay.

Panagbenga is only one of some festivals in Baguio to rediscover the culture and customs of indigenous people. Until now, you can see many Igorots in Baguio wearing their traditional clothes. You can have a souvenir photo wearing their traditional clothes, I think for 200 or 300 pesos.

We enjoyed our stayed there. My husband who was born in a cold country felt how cold the climate at that place. We found lifetime friends during our stay there, although I did not find a chance to see again some of my old friends there.

goodbye for now, Baguio.
We are planning to visit Baguio on our upcoming holiday in the Philippines. Maybe we will extend our trip up to the famous Banaue Rice Terraces. For now, I have again some photos to share closing my blog recommending the Tiptop Baguio Vacation Homes. The home of a good friend.
