From what I have read, statistics indicate that more and more shoppers opting to buy online, my husband is one of them. Better price, comparing price, 24 hour convenience, less expenses, and no crowds are among the reason why many shoppers now prefer to shop online.
I have some tips that I like to impart on how to economize in shopping:
1. Make a list. One of the main reasons why I usually have a shopping list because I don't like to forget anything now that I am becoming a bit forgetful, maybe because of old age or the anesthesia. Hahaha! Likewise, having a shopping list will help you to focus buying only those items you need.
2. Shop around. Don't stick to only one supermarket or store. Go around, shop around and compare prices. There are instances that supermarkets sell the same brand, but I discovered which supermarket has a lower price.

3. Be smart to note that special offers are invented to make the shoppers spend more not less. This includes vouchers and cash back. Sometimes we buy something simply because it is a special offer even we don't need it. Money wise has been, never buy something you did not need just because it is an offer.

4. Try to avoid impulse buying. Impulse means a sudden desire, an impelling force or intensity. That is always the initial reaction when we see something we truly like. For women, it's new clothes, bag, or shoes. For men, usually gadgets. Consider carefully before making a purchase, especially when it is expensive. Why not let yourself drift to a good night's sleep first? Maybe that item becomes less appealing the next day.
5. Read reviews. If you are an online shopper or not, reviews are helpful to make sure of the product.

Here are some more additional tips: nowadays, buying on credit card or debit card is safer than cash or check. And believe me, no matter how much self control we have in shopping, there are times that we all want to spend and fall into the trap of impulse buying. And for plain housewives, my shopping tip is: bring your husband along and you will not feel guilty at all. Hahahah! Have a great and productive week, everyone!
I find myself buying more things online, but I still feel that there is no substitute to holding an item in your hands.
