My apology for it seems it takes ages before my story about my  Greek  vacation 2018 continues. This part three is all about Corfu. Its sound, its smell, and how I feel so incredible to be able to visit this rich of antiquities city. From Kavos, we drive down the hills, passed a winding road lining down the beach. Corfu starts to become familiar to me, because the airport is there, we have our first stop, took the car that my husband rented.

What makes Greece more interesting to me is because I believe in the Bible. The New Testament is also known as The Greek Scripture. Corfu is a Greek Island in the Ionian Sea, home of the Ionian University. Corfu is full of Greek history from the beginning of Greek mythology. With those medieval castles punctuating strategic locations across the islands are the legacy of struggles in the Middle Ages against invasion of pirates and the Ottoman. I can even paint clearly on my mind its history of full battles and conquest, it was when we were inside the Old Fortress.

It only has begun... From Corfu, we set off our week of sightseeing, adventure, and making Greek memories. Sitting in the car, we were finding a place where we can park, my eyes feasted with a view, my heart leaps for a promising day in Corfu. At the far end, you will see a semi-ruined city, Venetian, will makes you want for more.  There is the double decker bus, as a London view. "Synagogue" is on the street sign, a complete suited rabbi passing by! Corfu remains as one of the most famous tourist destinations.

On our morning coffee break,  we have tasted this famous Corfu donut, served as complimentary together with our coffee. A donut with no hole, just like a ball, round, soft, honey-glazed. I told myself, uhhhh! I can stick around here eating this donut forever! 

Philippine Holiday 2017: Day 1

After an almost 17 hour flight from Amsterdam to Taipei then to Manila, I am glad and thankful that we landed safe last night. My first day in the Philippines was busy. I woke up late after an almost one day of no sleep.

With my husband and son, we went at the Megamall for the renewal of my Philippine passport. I am allowed to have a dual citizenship, and I like it. While I was waiting for my cue at the Department Of Foreign Affairs, I saw some reminders posted in the wall that makes me grinning inside. Hahaha! For image capture it says: smile no teeth. While waiting, I started to practice how to smile without baring my teeth! Hahaha! Then another poster says: for image capture: no eyeglass, no heavy make-up, no fake eyelashes.

This evening, I am also glad to meet again my beloved friend, ma'am Aurea who lives just nearby at the place where we are staying. Since I miss eating Filipino food/dishes, ma'am Aurea cooked and brought me bangus (milkfish) sinigang sa miso. It was very delicious, we both enjoyed our dinner together.
From where we are staying, I recall many memories. It is nice to see places that are familiar to me. When we have coffee at the French Baker, the classic Kenny G. serenades us, just like my old good days. When we were at the Megamall, I saw some of my favorite shops/stores when I was still living here in the Philippines, like The Fabric Warehouse, Booksale, Papemelroti, and Netopia.

When we returned to our accommodation, we took the MRT. It was my son's first ride at the MRT. It was a busy first day. We will go to bed and sleep now. Tomorrow, my family will pick us up and we will head to the coast. Where we will spend some few weeks with my family. I love to share some photos I made in Manila through my iPhone. From A Long Weekend In Hoenderloo, Bringing Back Home Memories And Beautiful Photos Too

We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.

Are you familiar with that quote on my photo caption? That is indeed very true, not only just a travel but also a rest or a meaningful vacation. We are back home from a long weekend in Hoenderloo and took home beautiful memories and beautiful photos.

We left my mother in law and my sister in law in Hoenderloo. They will stay there for another week. My son who is enjoying so much do not like to go home yet, even me, but my husband needs to be back at work tomorrow and my son in school. I feel a tinge of sadness as we left Hoendeloo, leaving behind my mother in law and my sister in law. This long weekend with them gave me an assurance that I am a real family member to them.

Bungalowpark Hoenderloo is considered as a luxury accommodation for Dutch people. But I noted it that there are also other guests from other countries based on the car plates of some cars in the parking. Our cabin is good for four persons. With two bedrooms upstairs, one downstairs. We have our small kitchen, bathroom, toilet, hot shower, garden, free wifi, and the one that I like the most, the fireplace. During summertime, there is also a big swimming pool for all the guests. There is a tennis court, and other amenities.

Hoenderloo is good for all nature lovers. Hoenderloo is an area surrounded by woodland, various flora and fauna, and sand drifts. I have read from the travel magazine that vacationers sometimes encounter animals like deer, roebucks, and wild boar. During our walk in the forest this morning, what we encounter are stallions, that amazed my son so much. He even knows now the poo of the horse! Hahahaha!

When you are in Hoenderloo, you will see that this place had so much to offer, both for people who love outdoors and for those who just seek a place where they can rest and have peace.

I brought home memories and photos too. Please view some of the beauty that I found during our long weekend in Hoenderloo. As I am writing this and recalling the good times we have in Hoenderloo, I feel really grateful that I have a family.

I Remember The Autumn Beauty In Veluwe

 So, I'm back! I have enough energy today to post two blogs. Hahahaha! I posted this morning on my Google+ page one of the photos I made in Veluwe, a beautiful autumn photo. A single photo that ignites my memory, now recalling and writing about our family holiday at the Veluwe.

Actually, that was not a long holiday. It was only a weekend at the Veluwe and a weekend treat of my in laws. They rented a big vacation house for the whole family. A big wooden house in the middle of the forest, and because it was autumn, I walked at the layers of the beautiful and crispy autumn leaves.

The Netherlands has many vacation places, be it in the forest, in the countryside, or at the seaside. Whichever you like to go, one thing is sure, you will definitely enjoy the tranquility and the view. I have been to many places here in The Netherlands and I would say that every place is unique, every place has something to offer, and you will see something new to every destination.

The Veluwe is in the province of Gelderland, the sound of the name is like in a fairy tale, like Neverland. Hahahah! The Veluwe is forest-rich ridge, with woodland, and some small lakes. We went there during autumn and I was not disappointed with what I have seen. Our morning or afternoon walks in the woods were invigorating. My son was just crawling when we went there also enjoyed our stay.

We stayed in ABK Huis. The house and the surrounding is exactly the same of some of the places that I have read in the book or seen in the movies. Vacation is a part of the Dutch culture. The whole year round, Dutch people take vacation. That is why, there are many vacation park and hotels in The Netherlands. Aside from the many tourists that are coming in to see this beautiful country, most Dutch people are also a good and regular clients of Dutch hotels and vacation parks.
