My First Indian Restaurant Experience at Sher-E-Punjab in Lelystad

The Naan bread, Chicken Dhansak, and Indian saffron Basmati rice. |
Aside from love and relationship, food and travel are also included as the best topics in blogging. We eat not only to satisfy our hunger, but also to enjoy. After paying a not really good meal, it is like we feel the regrets. I have a weekend in Lelystad with my son to attend our annual Regional Convention when I have my first real Indian dinner in a restaurant. A few months ago, my husband cooked chicken Madras for our family that we really enjoyed.

With my son |
Just in front of the Lelystad City Hall, you can see many restaurants. That night, being away from home for a while, I want to have something different. I want to have a meal that is with heart and down to earth. I saw this Indian Restaurant, Sher-E-Punjab. The place opens at 5:00 in the afternoon. We were the first costumer that time. The place is clean, cozy. I chose the table where my son facing the framed famed Taj Mahal, me facing two big canvases of Indian spices and herbs.
Sher-E-Punjab is the first Indian restaurant in Lelystad. The age-old balance use of herbs and spices in Indian cuisine is a tradition that they continue with great care. Their menus range from Punjab to Madras, a wide selection of meat, fish, grilled, and vegetarian. Menus with a price that is very reasonable. The menus are new to me. They have Tandoori main courses. I was torn choosing between Buttered Chicken and Chicken Dhansak. But I settled on the latter, since I know what is butter all my life but never of Dhansak. I have no regret choosing Chicken Dhansak. It was so incredibly delicious. The taste was subtle, very authentic, and the spices were not so spicy that even my son enjoyed our meal. Chicken Dhansak is blocks of chicken fillet, served with mango, chutney, lentils, and Indian herbs. They also served us four big Naan breads and the Indian saffron Basmati rice was really homey. It was a grand dinner for me and for my son. The staff were friendly and helpful. The next time that we are in Lelystad, I love to be back to Sher-E-Punjab. To feel and to taste again the authentic cooking of India in the Netherlands.

Chillers Emmeloord serves international dishes. I ordered their Portuguese cataplana. It really surprised me, that my big big bowl of cataplana consists of sea foods and many vegetables. They served it with rice. This is my first time to eat a Portuguese food/dish, and I really enjoy it!

Philippine Holiday 2017: A Great Hamburger Experience At St. Marc Cafe
It was lunchtime. Me and my family were at Robinson's Malate. We were finding a restaurant to eat. If you were in Malate, you can see many fast foods, cafés, and restaurants. My husband suggested to me that we try the St. Marc Café. We checked their menu and we ordered their thick hamburger... I can't almost believe it that I eat the whole hamburger with its thick filling. Instead of coffee, I have their ice-tea that I also love so much with its bittersweet taste. Before we left, I made some photos. Right there, I was already thinking that I will write on my blog this great burger experience. Because when I like something, I never hold back myself not to enjoin it, or not to share it.

Philippine Holiday 2017: At Citystate Tower Hotel
When we are in Manila, we have two staying options, depends on room availability. Our first option is in Lotus Garden Hotel, the second is the City State Tower. Both are located in Mabini, places knows as the tourist belt in Manila. On our recent holiday, we stayed at City State Tower. We stayed there for a total of seven days. The hotel is good. The mini bar in the room is off, empty. They have nice rooms, but their towels, bed sheets, and linens are already very old. So far, I still enjoyed our stay there. The management, staff, and crew are friendly, polite, and accommodating. I as well enjoy their free buffet breakfast for all registered guests, an eat all you can buffet breakfast. Every morning, I am always looking forward their Filipino breakfast. On the ground floor, there is a bar-restaurant owned by a very famous Filipino folk singer, Freddie Aguilar. There are performers every night. I brought home some photos to share with my blog readers.

My Food Trip At Bacolod Chicken Inasal

Every time we are in the Philippines, I took time to dine at Bacolod Chicken Inasal. I love their menu, all Filipino dishes, snacks and desserts. On the last Sunday of our stay in the Philippines, I eat my lunch at Bacolod Chicken Inasal. My husband who has an upset stomach, stayed in the hotel with our sleeping son. I know that I will order again their delicious best seller buko pandan. As I scan their menu, I feel like I like to taste all! Hahaha! They have La Paz Batchoy, pinangat, and also pancit Molo. On the menu it says, best seller too: KBL or kadyos, baboy, langka. And I ordered it and I finished my lunch with satisfaction. Kadyos is peas, baboy is pork, and langka is unripe jackfruit.
KBL is a delicious sour dish in a steaming broth. They served it to me with steam rice. The plate has banana leaf serves like a linen. Believe me, their dishes are all good because I was in the fifth among the waiting list! If you ever come to the Philippines, you can see Bacolod Chicken Inasal in many places especially in big malls. I am sure you will also love the foods that originates from the City Of Smile, Bacolod.

Philippine Holiday 2017: Feeling Confidently Beautiful At Gumbo Restaurant
My husband stayed with my son, I went to the mall and eat lunch alone. Lunch at Bacolod Inasal. I will write about it when we are back home. For today, what I want to share is our dinner at Gumbo Restaurant. My husband's friend who is also a Dutchman, is also my friend now. He and his family arrived from Puerto Galera and we joined together for a dinner.
The Gumbo's tagline is "The Taste Of New Orleans." The restaurant serves meat and seafoods. Their appetizer, the calamaris really taste good. I have white fish with mango salsa and I did like it. It was my third time in Gumbo. For the third time, I wear again one of their head costumes, and have fun having a picture wearing it. In all, I have a great Sunday and I hope all of you too.

But there is a regular place in the city where our family loves to have our lunch, or even for just a warm drink. The Veerplein 18. Veerplein 18 is a quaint and cozy lunch cafe, with pies and a gift shop. My son loves their orange drink, my husband loves their coffee, and I love their hot chocolate drink.
Veerplein 18 is open for breakfast or brunch. They also sell the old beer originally made in Vlaardingen, the Vulcaan Beer. I love dining out. In real life, I love to share: both my food or the photo of my food. Sharing some photos again. Enjoy your weekend!

Our morning at Het Konings Huys Restaurant, Delft. |
The team met at the Het Konings Huys Restaurant at 10 o'clock, Sunday. Again, thanks to my husband for driving me to Delft, since I do not want to be late. The Het Konings Huys sit at a unique place in Delft. Our editor in chief made the reservation. The restaurant is in the market square of Delft. If you prefer to sit on the terrace, the view is worth to have a drink or a good meal at Het Konings Huys. The Nieuw Kerk and the beautiful City Hall are just in front.
Part of our meeting is the tips given by our editor in chief on food photography and also on travel photography. I really enjoyed that part. Our meeting at Het Koninghuys ended around 12. Our group was split up into two groups, and we have the task to go around the city, make photos and using some of the tips given to us. After doing the task, following the map that our editor gave us, the two groups will meet at Mills & Hills, another restaurant where we are going to have our lunch and to practice our food photography skills.

My composition, my plate. |
Mills & Hills has this tag line: Pure Food Cafe. Hills & Mills created a group lunch for our team, they ensure that they have enough food for us, to consume and to photograph. Our team has the premium lunch that consists of: spelt sandwiches, quinoa salad, chickpea salad, fruit salad, carrot cake, mango lassi, and (sparkling) water. You can imagine how fun it was when the food was being served, all of us take our time, and our turn to photograph the food before taking our share. It was really fun, I enjoyed my time being with these people who love food, photos and words... Just like me.
